Program Note

Sumin, a middle school student living in a provincial town, is an ordinary boy who loves rock music. Suzuki, a nickname he encountered in a music chatroom, becomes a refreshing presence in Sumin's monotonous life. However, one day, Suzuki suddenly vanishes without a trace, deepening Sumin’s sense of loss. explores the moments of the summer of 2009, when the Jisan Rock Festival was first held, and the memories of Sumin’s adolescence in a small provincial city—memories that remain deeply rooted in his heart even as he now lives in Seoul as an adult. The film’s delicate direction, which sensuously portrays the inner turmoil of a boy whose ordinary and boring life is disrupted by a single presence, stands out. Through music, it vividly delivers the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia to the audience. (Choi Eun-young)
