Synopsis

A café that feels like a virtual space where opera arias play in the background. A three-way encounter between two men and one woman. Meeting for the first time with the woman between them, the two men engage in a battle of egos over their affection for her. Their petty fight intensifies. As they boast about their physical superiority, things escalate into a real show of strength… all while a beautiful aria plays absurdly overhead.

Program Note

Directed by Seong Yi-hyun, also known as Mowg, a renowned film composer, humorously portrays a standoff between two men over one woman, inspired by the famous aria "Habanera" from Bizet’s opera *Carmen*. In a surreal café setting, the love triangle unfolds with each character lost in their own version of reality. Like the lyrics of “Habanera,” which sing of capricious love, the childish power struggle between the two men may in fact reveal the essence of desire—often masked as love. (Choi Eun-young)

  • Since 1993, Seong Yi-hyun has been active as a jazz musician under the stage name MOWG, performing between New York and Seoul. From the mid-2000s, he has worked extensively as a film composer in both the U.S. and Korea. Since 2020, he has also been active in the art world through sound and media art projects.
