Synopsis
Legendary composer Kim Hee-gab created over 3,000 beloved Korean songs, including “Memory of the Seaside” by The Key Boys, “Leopard of Kilimanjaro” by Cho Yong-pil, and “Nostalgia” by Lee Dong-won and Park In-soo. Capturing his life’s journey since 2014, this film reconstructs the history of Korean popular music through his story and the voices of iconic singers. Carried on the wind, it tells the story of our lives that have been lived alongside these unforgettable songs.

Words Carried by the Wind is a documentary that traces the past and present of master composer Kim Hee-gab, who has created countless hits over decades. With songs sung by legendary artists such as Cho Yong-pil, Yang Hee-eun, Hye Eun-i, and Choi Jin-hee, the film highlights the enduring creative spirit Kim shared with his lyricist wife, Yang In-ja. As his music flows alongside his life story, the powerful resonance of his melodies lingers long after the credits roll. - Yang Hee has worked as a writer and producer in both television and film documentaries. Her notable credits as a writer include On the Road (2012), Marianne and Margaret (2017), Our President (2017), and Kim-Gun (2018). She also served as producer for Underground (2019) and The Nation of You (2022). Words Carried by the Wind (2024) marks her directorial debut.
