Synopsis

Environmental activist Christopher Clark establishes the “Outpost of Progress” deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. This unique utopian society is run and protected by forest dwellers, founded on a harmonious balance between nature and technology. However, the situation worsens each year, with new wildfires threatening to destroy the outpost. To draw global attention and advocate for the creation of a protected reserve, Chris makes a bold decision: to organize a Pink Floyd concert amid the emerald flames. After all, for those who dream, there are no limits.

Program Note

In the vast Amazon of Brazil, Scottish environmental activist Christopher Clark envisions a utopian model called the “Outpost,” harmoniously managed by Indigenous communities. As fires and rampant development threaten the rainforest and the Brazilian government remains uncooperative, Clark hatches a wildly imaginative plan to bring global attention to the crisis—by hosting a Pink Floyd concert in the heart of the Amazon. Outpost is a documentary that follows Clark’s audacious plan, reminiscent of Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo, portraying a visionary driven by a wild dream. With brilliant direction, the film delivers a majestic portrait of the Amazon’s poetic landscapes and prompts deep reflection on humanity’s relationship with nature. (Choi Eun-young)
