Synopsis

An elderly man named Mandeok, who wants to end his meaningless life, sets out for the junkyard in his old truck as instructed by a shaman. On the way, he encounters Hongdan, a migrant worker in urgent need of help.

Program Note

Poor and elderly, Mandeok has reached a point where he wishes to end his life. He heads to the junkyard to scrap his old truck—a longtime companion—and in doing so, discard himself as well. But on the way, he comes across Hongdan, a migrant worker stranded on the roadside with her water broken. He decides to take her to the hospital. Faced with the stark contrast of death and birth, the two embark on a short journey during which they come to realize that the spirit of solidarity can offer salvation. (Choi Eun-young)
