Synopsis

Mirae, a transgender woman who can no longer live with her family, tries to secure her own home using settlement money from staged assault incidents.

Program Note

On the day her family discovers her gender identity, transgender woman Mirae leaves home. Unable to be accepted for who she truly is, she starts saving money to get a place of her own. One day, she encounters a woman who lures people into assaulting her in order to extort settlement money, and Mirae tries to mimic her method to earn money — but things don’t go as easily as she hopes. The title of the film, Mirae’s Home, serves as a metaphor for her current reality. Without a sanctuary where she can rest as herself, will Mirae ever find a future home that shares her name?
