Synopsis

Jimin ends up living with her grandmother, whom she dislikes, and worries that her grandmother’s dementia will burden her mother. Wanting to save her mom, Jimin tries to get her grandmother into trouble. But when her grandmother actually disappears, her mom is unable to attend Jimin’s competition. Despite this, her mother still enrolls Jimin in the academy she wanted to attend, and Jimin learns that the medicine her grandmother had brought was actually her mother’s.

Program Note

When Jimin starts living with her grandmother—who seems greedy and burdensome—she gets the odd idea that she must "rescue" her mom. Jimin’s small scheme to get her grandmother in trouble ultimately backfires and puts Jimin herself in a difficult position. Through this experience, she gradually reconsiders her relationship with her mom and grandmother. Ambivalent feelings toward family are a common theme in cinema, and this film embraces Jimin’s small act of rebellion with a warm gaze. (Choi Eun-young)
