Synopsis

Kim Hee-gap is a legendary composer who has written over 3,000 popular songs in South Korea, including Leopards of Kilimanjaro and Nostalgia. A documentary about his life, shot from 2014 until now, showcases the history of K-pop music. These songs are essential to our lives, and their stories live on.

Program Note

Words from the Wind is a documentary that delves into the past and present of the legendary composer Kim Heegap, who has created countless masterpieces over the decades. The beautiful songs and lyrics sung by many stars of Korean popular musicians, such as Jo Yong-pil, Yang Hee-eun, Hyeeunyee, and Choi Jin-hee, encapsulate the immortal artistic spirit shared by Kim Heegap and his wife, lyricist Yang In-ja. As Kim Heegap’s music, which has been a part of Korean pop music history, flows alongside his life story, the powerful musical echoes that fill the screen linger long after.
