Synopsis

A fantastical summer romance musical told with the iconic tunes of Indigo Girls. A musician who wears charisma as camouflage & a carefree kid about to run away with the circus fall in love at first sight. But will 29 days be enough time to fall in love forever?

Program Note

Glitter & Doom is a jukebox queer musical film inspired by the music of the Indigo Girls. As the title suggests, it tells the story of Glitter, a young man born into a wealthy family who dreams of dedicating his life to the circus, and Doom, a melancholic singer-songwriter. Their bittersweet romance unfolds against a backdrop of vibrant psychedelic colors, with dynamic and stylish dance and music creating a surreal atmosphere. The film captivates audiences with its glamorous musical appeal, featuring dazzling production design and the iconic folk rock duo Indigo Girls' music, evoking the vibe of the 1980s. (Choi Eunyoung)

  • Tom Gustafson is a director whose work has won more than 60 awards & played over 250 international film festivals. The NY Times chose his first feature, Were the World Mine(2008), as “Critics’ Pick” calling it “Movie Musical Magic.” About his second feature, the NY Times proclaimed, “¡Hurra! Mariachi Gringo(2012) is right on pitch.” About Hello Again(2017), the NY Times proclaimed “The movie musical needs more ambitious creators like this.” Tom's latest film is Glitter & Doom(2024), a musical romance using the music of the Indigo Girls. Tom graduated from Northwestern University.
