Synopsis

Namwoo, who lives with his grandmother and mother in a remote village by the sea, accidentally finds a mysterious orb that transports him to a fantasy world in a lighthouse. There, he meets a beautiful girl, Marie, who becomes his secret love. On a stormy day, Namwoo rushes to the lighthouse to save a fishing boat... Director LEE Sung-gang's animated feature “Marie's Story” is a rare find in the barren Korean animation landscape. Famous actors such as Lee Byung-hun and Ahn Sung-ki participated in the dubbing, and music director Lee Byung-woo provides beautiful music. The fantasies of a young boy experiencing loneliness are well expressed, giving adults a chance to reflect on their own childhood.

1962년 서울 출생. 연세대 심리학과 졸업. 98년 제작한 <덤불 속의 재>가 99년 안시 국제 애니메이션 페스티벌 경쟁 부문 진출했다. 2005년 연출한 장편 실사영화 <살결>은 모스크바 영화제, 벤쿠버 영화제 경쟁부문에 진출했다.
