Synopsis

World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma collaborates with choreographer Mark Morris to transform Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3 into a dance. Throughout the creative process, they engage in numerous conversations, but interpreting music into movement proves to be a challenge. The breakthrough comes when a dancer recalls falling down the stairs while listening to Bourrée No. 3—an experience that inspires the choreography and leads to a breakthrough in the performance.

Since co-founding Rhombus Media in 1979, Barbara Willis Sweete has directed and produced more than 25 films, making her one of the most acclaimed Canadian directors in the field of music and dance cinema. She has directed numerous TV series focused on dance and music, and made her feature film debut with Perfect Pie in 2002.
