Synopsis

Swaroop, a young Muslim boy from a caste of musicians, leaves his desert village with his Uncle Nizam in search of work. His journey takes him to a new and changed society, a globalized India, which greatly contrasts with his traditional way of life. With outstanding traditional Sufi musical performances and a taste of fusion, Milk & Opium leaves the viewer questioning what will become of Swaroop and traditional India.

조엘 팔롬보

미술교사이자 화가로 활동하고 있으며 여러 편의 단편 영화와 비디오 작품을 제작하였다. 달라스 박물관, 2005년 일본 세계엑스포, 토론토 플레닛 인 포커스 영화제등에서 단편이 상영된 바 있다. 1967년 미국 디트로이트 출신이지만 지난 8년간 인도에 거주하고 있다. <우유와 아편>은 그의 장편 데뷔작.
