Synopsis

Two men, dressed in tight-fitting Santa outfits, rob a bank and stash the money in a coin-operated locker at a subway station. Somehow, Koichi, a street musician, ends up with the key to the locker. However, unlucky Koichi has a series of accidents that leaves him unconscious in a river, with the key in his stomach. Unexpected twists and turns allow the path of these men, along with a bickering pair of cops and a trucker with a deluded devotion to his Lord, to collide. But who ends up with the key?

1964년 생. 본명 다나카 히로유키. 1986년 모리타 요시미츠 감독의 <소로방즈쿠>에서 배우로 데뷔했다. 1996년 <탄환러너>에서 ‘사부’란 이름으로 각본과 연출을 겸하며 감독 데뷔를 했고, 이 작품은 베를린 영화제 파노라마 부문에 진출해 찬사를 받았다. 이어지는 작품인 <포스트맨 블루스>로 1998년 선댄스 영화제에서 크게 각광받았고 코냑 영화제에서는 최우수 신인감독상을 수상했다.
