Synopsis

Willy Sommerfeld is the last remaining original silent film pianist who dates back to the very beginnings of cinema. His music becomes the protagonist of the film and a testimony to his great talent, and is thus preserved for posterity. This film is not meant as a mere biographical portrait, but rather as the sensitive portrayal of a man who has remained true to himself.

Ilona Ziok

Born in 1968 in Poland, Ilona Ziok emigrated to the UK and later studied in New York, Moscow, and Frankfurt. She works as a writer and producer, and her notable documentary works include The Second Victory of Jurij Vlasov (1989), You, My Kazimierz, Shalom (1990), Where is the Street, Where is the House? (1993), The Journey to Tunisia (1993), and The Count and the Comrade (2003–2005).
