Synopsis

What will happen when street musicians play ‘the Internationale’, the former national anthem of the Soviet Union, in front of the Turkish military council? alludes to the direct and indirect effects of the Turkish military coup of September 1980 through the tragicomic tale of the violinist Abuzer, his daughter Gulendam, and the young revolutionist Haydar, who all live in Adiyaman. Since the coup, nothing is the same. Street musicians have been officially banned from performing, but they continue to amuse the locals by running a mobile nightclub in a truck until they are caught and arrested. However, the regional commanding officer assigns Abuzer and his band to form a regular band. Now the head of a modern orchestra, Abuzer catches his daughter listening to songs in secret. He composes a march that his friends practice in preparation for a welcoming ceremony for the generals. < International>, a winner of multiple awards including best actress at the 26th Istanbul International Film Festival and best film at the Ankara International Film Festival, is highly acclaimed by critics for its irresistible story. 시리 쉬레야 온데르, 무하렘 굴메즈

1962년생인 시리 쉬레야 온데르는 텔레비전과 장편영화의 시나리오 작가이자 스토리 구성작가로 일하고 있다. <인터내셔널>은 작가와 감독으로서 그의 첫 장편영화다. 현재 이스탄불에 있는 시나리오 센터에서 시나리오 작법과 스토리 구성을 가르치고 있다. 1968년생인 무하렘 굴메즈는 이즈미르의 도쿠즈 에이률 대학의 영화과를 졸업했다. 1990년 이후 많은 국내외 장편 영화와 텔레비전 시리즈의 조감독과 제작자로 일해 왔다. 시리 쉬레야 온데르와 공동 연출한 <인터내셔널>은 그의 장편데뷔작이다.
