Synopsis

At the end of the 60s the Rolling Stones were at a turning point - recovering from Altamont, hounded by the press, battling drug busts, and facing possible financial ruin. The band throws down the gauntlet, severs all ties, and decamps to the south of France to begin the most arduous recording sessions of their entire careers for an album that in time will come to be regarded as one of the greatest rock and roll albums ever made. This is the story of the making of Exile on Main Street. Featuring a treasure-trove of rare and never-before-seen film and photos, new interviews with the band and some of the men and women who bore witness to the album’s creation, Stones in Exile is a heady time-travel trip back to the summer of 1972 that bears witness to a vivid moment in rock and roll history.

  • 드러머이기도 했던 스테판 키작은 영국 영화 및 텔레비전 예술상 후보에 오른 다큐멘터리 <스콧 워커: 30세기 남자>을 비롯해 <시네마니아>와 <롤링 스톤즈의 프랑스 은둔기> 등을 연출했다. 그는 2012년 패션 픽처스와 다시 팀을 이루어 베이시스트 자코 파스토리우스에 관한 다큐멘터리를 만들었고, 2015년 1월 여러 나라에서 개봉한 <백스트리트 보이즈: 쇼엠 왓 유아 메이드 오브>를 만들었다. 2016년 작품 <위 아 엑스>는 제천국제음악영화제 경쟁부문에 초청되기도 했다.
