Synopsis

This documentary interweaves two subjects: the Cort/Cortek laborers’ struggle for reinstatement against the pseudo-closure of the factory and the underground musicians who participated in The Concert for Cort/Cortek laborers from last December 9th to 14th. The film focuses not only on the musicians’ early memories with their guitars, but also shows how these musicians came to terms with the situation of the laborers. From a tiny live club to strikes on the streets, the melody of guitars harmonizes performers and audiences, artists and laborers.

  • Born in 1972 in Seoul, Kim Seong-gyun graduated from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Konkuk University in 1998. He directed, filmed, and edited the RTV documentary series (2009). "Guitar Story" is his feature film debut.
