Synopsis

In 1999, in an old neighbourhood in Casablanca, a young man named Malek moves in with his uncle Amir to learn how to play the lute. Amir promises to reveal to Malek the secret of the fifth string and tells him the story of Ziryab, an exceptional musician. But very soon Amir realizes the talent of his nephew and becomes unbearably jealous. During his education, Malek meets Laura, a young musician, who gives him the strength to pursue his dream.

  • 카사블랑카 출생. [모로코 영화 속에서 여성의 지위와 역할]이라는 논문으로 박사 학위를 취득했다. 모로코로 돌아간 뒤, 자국 및 외국 감독들의 조감독으로 활동했다. 여러 편의 단편 영화를 연출했고, 이 작품들은 페스파코 영화제, 브뤼셀 독립영화제 및 다수 영화제에서 각광받았다. <제5현>은 그녀의 첫 번째 장편 극영화다.
