Synopsis

Yong-gu is a mentally challenged man with the intelligence of a 6-year-old, which is also the age of his daughter Ye-sung, who is much smarter than her peers. The two of them lead a happy life on their own. But one day, when the police commissioner’s young daughter dies in an accident, Yong-gu, who happens to find her, is falsely accused and imprisoned, assigned to Cell No.7. One day, he saves his fellow cellmate from an attack by his rival. In return for saving his life, Yong-gu is granted a wish to see his daughter again. The inmates put their heads together to carry out a daring operation and succeed in sneaking Ye-sung into Cell No.7.

  • Lee Hwan-kyung graduated from Seoul Arts College. He gained experience as an assistant director under directors Lee Myung-se and Park Jong-won, and later worked as a PD at MBC. He made his directorial debut with the film *The One Who Is Cool*. He has directed films such as *Sugar and Spice* and *Champ*, and in 2012, with *Miracle in Cell No.7*, he became a box-office sensation, reaching over 10 million viewers.
