Synopsis

It was only three months ago that the children were holding violins and cellos in their hands. However, the children started showing their musical abilities thanks to the passion and love of their teachers. The children, their families, and the music director were deeply moved by the 'Improving Music Concert' in 2011, their first performance. They carried that same emotion into their regular concert that year and performed with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012! What is the special reason the children love the 'Neighborhood Orchestra' so much? It is because they have instruments and friends with whom they can make music and share their feelings. And most importantly, all of the teachers hope that the children are cared for through music and that they dream with their hearts.

  • Ham Dong-guk
  • Born in 1969, Ham Dong-guk graduated from the Film Department of the Korean National University of Arts. His short film Through the Window was invited to the 2nd Gwangju Film Festival, and he later made Ah! This Clear and Warm Sunshine and The Story of Park Byung-chun. Our Neighborhood Orchestra is his first documentary, made with the support of the Korean Film Council and the Seoul Film Commission.
