Synopsis

17 years old Karsu Donmez - the Dutch answer to Norah Jones - is a talented jazz singer-songwriter, who grew up in a Turkish family in Amsterdam. Full of passion, she sings and plays piano in her parents' Turkish restaurant. Bit by bit she draws us into her secret world, which is closely related to Turkish traditions. Growing up with both Turkish and Dutch values, Karsu tries to find her own path. For 3 years, the director follows Karsu’s journey through adolescence and the world of music. Lively scenes are intercut with her music, in which reflections about life, grief, and wishful desires are captured with beauty and piercing precision in her personal songs.
