Synopsis

Hank Williams pioneered, and essentially invented, what we know today as country music. At the peak of his career, he was acknowledged as the greatest singer-songwriter in American history. But after a meteoric rise to record and radio superstardom in the late 1940s, his life became a wreck. Inspired by the mysterious final days of Hank's mercurial life, *The Last Ride* tells the story of that final drive through the bleak Appalachian countryside of 1950s America. It is a lonely two-man odyssey: a boy coming of age and a man leaving this world far too soon, a victim of his own abuses.

  • Harry Thomason was born in 1940 in Arkansas, USA. Since the early 1970s, he has produced and directed a wide variety of works, including fiction, documentaries, and TV series. His 2004 film *Hunting the President* earned recognition as a nominee for Best Documentary at the Writers Guild Awards and garnered praise. He has also been nominated for and won numerous awards, including the Emmy Award and Directors Guild Award.
