Synopsis

Midsummer Night Tango is a humorous, light-hearted road movie, following 3 Argentinean tango musicians as they leave the Milonga of Buenos Aires behind to discover tango in faraway Finland. Traveling through the scenic landscape, they meet great Finnish tango singers and composers. They stumble across open-air dance halls in the deep forest, where people dance through the midsummer nights to the sound of melancholic Finnish tango. This film captures the charming and comic moments when musicians from two different worlds come together – discovering that they all share the same love for tango music, no matter how different it might sound.

  • Born in 1969 in Saxony, Germany, Viviane Blumenschein is an award-winning director and writer. Having studied media and culture at Leuphana University in Lüneburg, she won multiple awards for her film *Dance for All* (2007) at various film festivals. Based in Berlin, she specializes in music documentaries and continues to produce notable works in this genre.
