Muscle Shoals

Director: Greg Camalier

USA | 2013 | 112 min | DCP | Color | Documentary

Muscle Shoals

Muscle Shoals, located in the Tennessee River Valley of Alabama, is the birthplace of some of the most creative and groundbreaking popular music in American history. At the heart of this was Rick Hall, who founded FAME Studios. Overcoming poverty and tragic events, he created exceptional music that brought together black and white artists in a racially segregated Alabama. Under Rick Hall's leadership, the "Muscle Shoals Sound" was born, and the FAME Studios house band, the Swampers, went on to form their own successful Muscle Shoals Sound Studios. Through the testimonies of musicians like Bono and Mick Jagger, the charm and mystery of Muscle Shoals are explored, and the enduring power of the Muscle Shoals Sound is confirmed.
