Synopsis

Guca is the name of a small village in Serbia that has been home to the national trumpet festival for over 40 years. Once a small local affair, it now attracts crowds of over 200,000 and is legendary across the Balkans. The film follows two young players, the main rivals for the coveted ‘Golden Trumpet,’ both of whom learned as boys from fathers who have also competed in a country where mastering traditional playing is still highly esteemed.

  • Milivoj Ziljic is a musician signed with Virgin Atlantic, as well as an installation artist. He made a name for himself in the advertising industry, producing numerous TV commercials for major brands. In 2005, he teamed up with his colleagues from Red Earth Studio, Seth Terranova and Adam Ducker, who encouraged him to make a documentary about the Guca Trumpet Festival, leading to the creation of this film.
