Synopsis
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the composer Edward Kazasyan discovers that his late wife, the singer Lia Ivanova who survived communist camps, was forced to work for the secret services. Their files in the archives of the State Security and the diary of her childhood reveal the complicated fate of the singer rushing to the big stage and her ‘second life’ imposed by the system. The film is based on personal history of a famous Bulgarian singer.

- Born in 1943 in Ostrov, Bulgaria, Spasov studied cinematography at the Moscow Film School. Since 1971, he has worked as a cinematographer on many films, including feature films and documentaries. In 1993, he made his directorial debut with the feature film The Day of Forgiveness, for which he also wrote the script. His 2005 film Stolen Eyes was screened at over 50 film festivals, and Singing Shoes premiered at the Moscow Film Festival in 2016.
