Synopsis

Thousands of acoustic pianos are being dumped every year in the UK. Some get rescued and are put on the street for anyone to play. Street pianos become a magnet for a rich diversity of players and bring human connection into urban spaces. Music transforms people’s lives and street pianos transform cities.

  • Independent filmmaker Morin Ni Pien debuted in 2014 with the short film The People's Piano, which was screened at the Raindance Film Festival and Crystal Palace Film Festival. Street Piano was co-directed with Tom Rochester and produced in 2017.

  • Tom Rochester is a cinematographer and independent filmmaker. He was the cinematographer for The People’s Piano, which was screened at the London Raindance Film Festival. Instrument of Change: Street Piano is his first directorial work, co-directed with Morin Ni Pien.
