  • Nagisa Oshima
  • Nagisa Oshima (1932–2013) was a Japanese director and screenwriter. After studying political history at Kyoto University, he made his directorial debut with Street of Love and Hope (1959). Over his career, he directed 23 feature films, including In the Realm of the Senses (1976) and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983). He was awarded the Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival for In the Realm of the Senses.
