Synopsis

The outbreak of open aggression in Croatia in the autumn of 1991 sparked an unprecedented response from musicians—from fiddlers and tambura players to pop singers, dance musicians, rockers, and punks. In the first few intense months of the war, several hundred new songs were recorded. Many of these songs did not survive the war, and the story remains unfinished and untold.

  • Miroslav Sikavica is a director and screenwriter. He studied film and television directing at the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art. Sikavica has directed several short documentaries, and his feature documentary The Cloud (2011) won the Best Film award at the Liburnia Film Festival. A Song Stronger Than a Gun is his second feature documentary.
