Synopsis

In the town of Obaba in Basque, Spain, David takes lessons from his accordionist father and enjoys pleasant days with his friend Lubis. Then, David discovers the ill-fated relationship between his father’s past as an advocate of General Franco’s reign and Lubis’ family. David begins cooperating with the separatist organization of Basque as he bonds with his new friend, Joseba. As time goes on, David, now ill, writes a book about his past. It is then that his friend Joseba revisits him with his father’s accordion and reveals the secrets of the past. Through the accordion, which symbolizes the “shameful past of David’s father,” this film portrays the tragic lives of the people in Basque.
