Synopsis

Born in the Soviet Union, Aram Khachaturian became his homeland’s representative composer although he never received any official training until the age of 18. His works during World War II, such as the “Gayane Ballet Suite” and “Symphony no. 2,” reflected the folk music of Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey. This film cinematically portrays Khachaturian’s composition of the “Gayane,” particularly the song “Sabre Dance.”

  • Director and screenwriter Yusuf Rajikov was born in 1957 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He graduated from the Russian State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow in 1986 and wrote several screenplays. His work "The Shepherd" (2005) won awards at the Moscow International Film Festival. Other works include "Shame" (2013) and "The Sorrow of Turkey" (2017).
