Synopsis

A garden where you buy a cup of coffee and wait for someone without even drinking it. You keep waiting for the other person, not knowing when they will come. Strumming the guitar you brought with you to see what's inside. The other person doesn't come even when the coffee is cold. Who is the garden waiting for?

Program Note

A young musician waits for someone to showcase his performance. After a long wait, the other person unexpectedly offers him a busking gig. The story of the short animated film Busking is simple enough, but the delicate way in which the characters are shown the details of their situation and the careful structure that drives the seven-minute running time to unexpected situations is enough to tug at the heartstrings. The black-and-white animation is beautifully rendered, with understated dialog and expressions, intriguing visual compositions, and faraway mise-en-scene that lyrically expresses the plight of the characters.
