Synopsis

​ Eun-kyung is a building cleaner with a college-age son. After leaving her son behind to borrow money, she stumbles upon a discount poster for the musical Silver. a discount poster for the musical Silver, and decides to save up and go to the show. Ever since she was a child She dreamed of being a musical actress singing on stage. After a strange encounter on the way home with Assistant Director Moon and Chief Yoon. Eun-kyung has a great time watching the musical, which tells the story of relationships. After the show, the sun sets At the National Theater, Eun-kyung meets the lead actress.

Program Note

​ This movie is not a screen adaptation of a stage performance but rather a unique work that brings stage performance form into a film format. It evokes the experimental films of the 1970s from Germany and other places, like Syberberg's Hitler, which similarly provides social commentary while maintaining a popular trend. Through the interactions of three men who meet as a proxy driver and customers, the movie conveys the culture and landscapes of modern and contemporary Korea through dance and song. The panoramic view of modernization, masculinity, and nightlife may seem romantic at first glance, but it also carries a bitter undertone. (Lee Yongcheol)

  • Paek Seunghwan
  • Born in 1980, Paek Seungwhan graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in journalism and broadcasting. He founded the production company Paek Grim and directed films such as The Artist: Reborn(2016) and Ode to the Goose(2018). He is currently working on creating the Netflix original series Homeland and Nationality(2023).
