Synopsis

​ Dumped on his wedding day, Laurent is a theater actor playing the role of the famous philanderer Don Juan. He sees a reflection of his ex-fiancée in every woman he meets, and in an attempt to heal his broken heart and ego, he seduces them all, but none of them take him further than that. In the meantime, the female actress playing the lead role in the play quits the production and Laurent's ex-fiancée is brought in to replace her.

​ Serge Bozon and Axelle Ropert, who have maintained a steadfast collaboration since the late 1990s, embark once again into the realm of musical films, following their remarkable achievement with La France(2007). However, their inclination seems to gravitate towards a dry and melancholic melodrama, rather than the buoyant comedy or sweet romance that typically grace the genre. While the familiar plot intertwining real life and theatrical world during the rehearsal and execution of a stage play takes to the forefront, their critical approach to the operation of music and choreography in musical films distinguishes them far from the ordinary.   • Serge Bozon (1972, France) is filmmaker, film critic and actor. He acted in different movies from well-known directors as Jean-Claude Guiguet and Jean Paul Civeyrac. He also directed the short Mods(2002). His debut feature La France(2007) was awarded with the Prix Jean Vigo, the award for best debut feature film in France. For his film Mrs. Hyde(2017) he used his own experience from working as a high school teacher.
