Synopsis
Inspired by Kensuke Ide's 2021 concept album Strolling Planet 74, Plastic Love tells the story of Ide's band's transformation into the fictional '70s glam rock group Exxon Keddie and their sonic ghosts. When Jun, a teenager who fails to land a record deal, transfers to Nagoya, he busks with his favorite Exxon Keddie songs, which catches Ibuki's attention. The two share the same taste and fall in love. But as their adult responsibilities pile up, they slowly drift apart.
Program Note
Decades after the disbandment of the iconic 1970s glam rock group 'Exne Kedy', Jun and Ibuki find themselves deeply enamored as they bond over their shared adoration for the band. Renowned Japanese independent film director Daisuke Miyazaki, celebrated for works like Yamato and Videophobia, weaves a captivating narrative of two individuals who cross paths in Nagoya in 2018, leading up to their anticipated reunion at a live performance in Tokyo four years later, entwined with the power of music.
