Synopsis

​ Two men who come to Ganghwado after receiving a text from 'Hanju' about a performance at the 'Shitbox'; two women who come to Ganghwado to meet 'The Writer'; those who hold on to the memories of their past lives as artists and those who hold on to 'The Day' with anxiety about the future, their paths intersect in a time and space where they don't know when 'The Day' is.

Program Note

​ The title alone may suggest it is a literary work, but this movie possesses a musical essence. Two women and two men of different generations and tendencies, along with a peculiar being, make their free appearances. The manner in which they encounter one another, intervene, collide, separate, reunite, and harmonize resembles the intricate interplay of melodies in a musical composition. The movie exudes a sense of freedom yet operates and performs within a structured musical universe. Towards the end, regardless of whether it is free jazz, Korean traditional music, or Gutpan, viewers will encounter a sense of freedom and tranquility that arises from sheer exhaustion.   • Jang Gun-ho
  • Born in Busan, Korea, Jang Gun-ho was a fine arts major at Hongik University and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He directed the animated feature Heavenly Sword and feature film Navigation. His film Mimist received the Best Film Award at the 17th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival and was an official selection at the 44th Moscow International Film Festival.
