Synopsis

​ Middle schooler Bonnie, obsessed with a '70s international rock band, seeks revenge on her shaman grandmother who won't listen to her. She calls upon the ghosts of her rock band.

Program Note

​ Bona, a middle school student, has fallen head over heels for 'Headliner', a 1970s band tragically lost in an unforeseen accident. As she caresses a worn-out LP, her mind dances with dreams of no new releases or concerts. Trapped under her shaman grandmother's strict control, Bona inadvertently summons the spirit of a deceased singer while her grandmother is hospitalized. The film imaginatively weaves together shamanism and folk rock, culminating in a surprisingly satisfying resolution. With its well-crafted songs, the film indulges in a whimsical reverie about the transformative power of old music. (Nam Sunwoo)

  • Choi Iida is an artist and filmmaker based in Seoul. She received her BA in Fine Art and Philosophy from Seoul National University. She is currently attending graduate school majoring in film directing at Korea National University of Arts. She has directed several short films including Goot.
