But unlike David, Matthus struggles to find happiness despite the success he enjoys in his new, better world. to achieve happiness despite his success in his new, better world. Gradually, he realizes that happiness is a state of mind, a life lived for someone else.

Program Note

When Matus, street musician reunites with Albert, a former classmate from the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic program who has now become a star violinist, he suddenly finds himself facing the door to upper-class society. Instead of explaining Matus's confusion, the film suggests that the audience pay attention to his silent expressions and gestures, experiencing the subtle inner conflicts he goes through. The camera frequently captures the face of Bartosz Bielenia, a familiar face from his role in Corpus Christi, in close-ups as the protagonist. His pale face exudes a captivating aura, convincingly leading us through Matus's journey of self-discovery between two worlds. (Jin. Cho)
