Synopsis

Gila is 65 years old, from a kibbutz in Israel and long divorced. One evening while babysitting her grandchildren, she meets Amnon, 70, her in-law, who is widowed. While their children try to repair their marriage that day, Amnon and Gila cautiously approach each other. Gila struggles to overcome the guilt of “abandoning” her daughter to the communal parenting system of the kibbutz, but at the same time faces the fear of falling in love and being hurt.

Program Note

Gila assumes the role of caring for her grandchildren. This commitment prevents her from attending a choir meeting, prompting a fellow choir member to pay her a visit. The film paints a fantastical picture of dancing and singing beneath the streetlight, while authentically capturing the conflicts faced by a mother and daughter torn between their individual lives and their roles as mothers. Reminiscent of scenes from Singin' in the Rain and La La Land, this film captures the transformative power of music, injecting vitality into life itself. (Cho Hyunna)
