Synopsis

Arab musician and artist Samira Saraya is fighting to come out as LGBTQ in Arab society. As she prepares for a concert, Samira invites her family to watch her perform on stage for the first time in her life, which feels like coming out all over again.

Program Note

After dedicating 20 years to a nursing career, Samira embarks on an unexpected journey as a rapper. As an Arab lesbian, Samira chooses to reveal her authentic self through music, though her family struggles to fully accept her path. After much contemplation, Samira decides to extend an invitation to her family for one of her performances. The charm of Samira lies in the genuine nature of its protagonist. Through raw direction, self-penned lyrics, realistic performances, and the tension of a reunion with her family, the film engrosses the audience, immersing them deeply in the narrative. (Cho Hyunna)
