Program Note
The Mancuso family operates Puppets' Opera, a traditional Sicilian puppet theatre. Carmelo, the son of a puppeteer, spends his days playing with old dolls in the dusty theatre. Using different voices, he leads an imaginary puppet show, transforming into a king, a general, and a knight. This movie portrays a captivating Sicilian doll that is beautiful, strange, and fascinating. Embodying the innocence of childhood, the film offers a heartwarming 'puppetry Paradiso' experience that will move the audience deeply. (Kim Song-hee)
