Synopsis

​ Alus is a nomadic, wandering electronic musician who accompanies his mother, who has Alzheimer's disease, on her journey back to the green pastures to stay with his mother, who has Alzheimer's disease. To spend his mother's last days together. to spend her last days together.

Program Note

​ Alus, a musician returns to his hometown in Mongolia to care for his mother, who suffers from dementia. The film, presented in the form of a road movie, showcases the beauty of Mongolian Mother Nature, its people, and traditional music. The connection between nature and music symbolizes the vitality of life while evoking nostalgic memories of the past, which in turn awakens the mother's blurred present. Through poignant motherson interactions and the breathtaking landscape of Mongolian tradition, the film portrays delicate yet restrained emotions, delivering a profound message about the joys and sorrows of life.   • Sixue Qiao
  • Sixue Qiao was born in Inner Mongolia, China. After graduating from 3IS Ecoles & Formations d'audiovisuel à Paris de la France Academy, at the end of 2015, she worked at KOI Films Company in Paris and participated in dozens of short films. The Cord of Life is her debut feature. The project was previously selected by project markets including HAF Film Lab 2019(Hong Kong). In 2022, the project won the Special Prize at the Project Market of Beijing International Film Festival.
