Synopsis

In the 1980s, the legendary band Red Warriors conquered not only the Japanese rock scene but also made waves globally. Within the band were two brilliant musicians: Diamond Yukai and Takehiko Kogure. Now, they have formed a new band called Diamond Shake. This documentary tells the story of two men who devoted their lives and passion to rock 'n' roll.

Program Note

Diamond Shake chronicles the story of the band formed by Takehiko Kogure and Yukai, former members of Red Warriors—a group that enjoyed tremendous popularity during the golden era of Japanese rock in the 1980s. The 1960s and 1970s were a turbulent period in which rock music, born in America, evolved and matured in various forms across the globe. Diamond Shake plays numerous classic rock tracks in their own style, aiming to convey the charm of rock to audiences. Through interviews with the band members and the heartfelt support of fans who have stood by them over the years, the film captures the enduring spirit of rock. (Choi Eun-young)
