As the investigation deepens, it becomes increasingly tangled, and Joe finds himself going head-to-head with the city's most dangerous criminal—alone.
Program Note
The City is the first Hebrew-language rap musical, inspired by soul music and classic film noir. On a stormy night, cynical detective Joe is visited by mysterious nightclub singer Sarah Bennett, who asks him to find her missing sister. Joe must unravel a web of serial killings, gangs, corrupt cops, and Sarah’s own secrets. Blending the melancholic mood of a Raymond Chandler novel with explosive rap numbers, the film delivers a unique cinematic experience that is both coolly detached and emotionally charged. Director Amit Ulman, who also stars in the lead role and co-wrote the script and music, showcases his multifaceted talent in this bold and genre-defying debut. (Choi Eun-young)
