Synopsis
Time has passed since the release of contaminated water began. Young-nam travels down to Jeju to organize his family home. There, he unexpectedly reunites with his old friend Yurim, who is working with colleagues to clean up marine debris.
Program Note
How to Swim with a Dolphin is a work that makes us confront the ocean—a home-like place long forgotten by humanity—and nature itself. After the discharge of contaminated water, Young-nam returns to Jeju to clean out his childhood home and coincidentally meets his old friend Yurim again. She now works at a diving shop and leads a life of her own while helping clean the ocean with her colleagues. The film traces Young-nam's emotional transformation as he rediscovers the sea of Jeju, having grown accustomed to city life. The lingering thoughts on the beauty that nature still holds—despite being harmed by humans—culminate in a powerful underwater scene at the end. (Choi Eun-young)
