Synopsis
Lovers with the same name, Ji-won and Ji-won. After ending their seven-year relationship and band activities, the two reunite on a late summer night. Unlike Ji-won, who expects the night to pass by casually like any other, the other Ji-won comes with a resolution in mind. The next day, Ji-won joins a daytime drinking session with the disbanded band members, and that summer unfolds in unexpected ways.
Program Note
A year has passed since the breakup of a music band that lasted seven years. Ji-won and Ji-won, a couple with the same name, were not only bandmates but also lovers. Though they parted ways when the band disbanded, the man occasionally invites Ji-won to his place, but their relationship no longer continues. The setup of a couple sharing the same name serves as a metaphor for the internal conflict between the Ji-won who wants to continue music and the Ji-won who must give it up and take a different path. In the end, it is only when she hears from her ex to "choose for herself" that she realizes she had made a choice long ago but never accepted it. Through a time structure that moves between past and present, the film delicately explores the subtle emotional waves of parting with something—or someone—you once loved. (Choi Eun-young)
