Synopsis

Partners in crime and passion, a ‘Bonnie-and-Clyde’ couple Wang Bo and Wang Li run into Xa Gen in a train station, a country bumpkin who believes that he lives in a world without theives. Contrary to his conviction, the train is full of theives, including Uncle Bill, a maestro of dexterousness who finds his match only in Bo. While Bill’s men are prowling after Gen’s sixtythousand yuan savings, Li takes it upon herself to be his protector, and Bo reluctantly drawn into this ironic battle of good and evil.

펑 샤오강

1958년 북경 출생. 중국 최고의 상업영화 감독으로 2004년 미국잡지 비즈니스 위크가 선정한 ‘아시아 스타 25인’ 중 한 명으로 선정. 군인 극단에서 8년간 무대그림을 담당하는 일을 하다 TV 방송국의 미술팀에 취직했다. 1991년 미국 내 중국 이민자들의 삶을 그린 소설을 각색, 연출한 TV 시리즈 <뉴욕의 북경인들 Beijingers in New York>이 큰 성공을 거두면서 감독으로서의 입지를 굳혔다. 뉴욕 기념 영화(New York Celebration Movies) 시리즈로 1997년부터 2000년까지 < Dream Factory>, < Be There or Be Square>, < Sorry, Baby>, < A Sigh>의 4편을 연출. 2003년 블록버스터 <휴대폰>으로 국제적 명성을 얻었다.
