Synopsis

La Strada, 1957 Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film, is Fellini’s first masterpiece. Young and innocent Gelsomina gets sold to brutish street performer Zampano and becomes his assistant, but is silenced in trauma after witnessing Zampano murder a friend. She is then abandoned by Zampano. Anthony Quinn and Giulietta Masina provide unforgettable performances capturing the lives that afloat on the streets, as does the lingering gloomy solo trumpet of Nino Rota.

페데리코 펠리니

1920년 태어나 어린 시절 유랑극단을 따라다니기도 했던 펠리니는 1950년 <청춘군상> 이후 1990년 <달의 목소리>까지 20여 편의 영화를 만들어 이탈리아를 대표하는 감독으로 활동했다. 그의 명성을 높인 1954년 작품 <길> 이후에도 <달콤한 인생>, <8과 1/2>, <카사노바>, <아마코드>, <그리고 배는 항해한다> 등 내놓는 작품마다 평단의 화제를 불러일으키면서 아카데미상을 다섯 차례나 수상했다.
