Synopsis

A group of six Sierra Leonean musicians come together to form a band while living as refugees in the Republic of Guinea. Civil war (1991-2002) in Sierra Leone took the lives of many of their loved ones and left them with physical and emotional scars that may never be healed, but it could never take away their music. Through music, The Refugee All Stars provides a unique and intimate perspective on war and conflict in the developing world.

잭 나일스, 뱅커 화이트

잭 나일스는 샌프란시스코의 필모어 오디토리움에서 열리는 콘서트를 준비 중인 록 밴드의 일상을 다룬 TV 다큐멘터리 시리즈 <필모어 라이브 Live At The Fillmore>의 조연출을 담당했었다. <필모어 라이브>는 2001년 UPN TV 네트워크를 통해 미국에서 방영됐었다. 남아프리카공화국과 카메룬에서 활동하고 있는 잭 나일스는 아프리카의 음악과 문화에 대해 깊은 관심과 애정을 지니고 있다. 뱅커 화이트는 베이 에리어의 전방위 예술가로 미국 CCAC(California College of Arts and Crafts)에서 석사학위를 취득했다. 서아프리카의 가나에서 활동하고 있으며 다수의 단편을 연출했고 음악가로도 유명하다. 1990년대 중반 아프리카 문화유산을 발굴, 연구하기 위해 세워진 러닝센터, 코크로비테이 연구소 설립에 큰 역할을 했다.
