Synopsis

John, a famous rockstar, dies during a live concert with his band and finds himself in nirvana, where he must confront his past actions and his dreams for the future. This short film, which won the Silver Bear for Best Short Film at the 56th Berlin International Film Festival, captivates audiences with its striking graphic visuals—combining shadow animation and psychedelic 2D animation—and its music-driven narrative.

Jan Kuster

Born in 1978, Jan Kuster studied animation at the Babelsberg Film School. After three years of work, he completed The Nirvana Experience of a Rockstar. His notable works include Vegafa (2001) and Musli (2002).
